drawing the curtains
Event held on
TED is a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxABESEC, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxABESEC event, TED Talk videos and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
The theme we’re tendering is: ‘Backstage: Drawing The Curtains’. It personifies the spirit of the TED community in the most thought-invoking abstract sense bringing forth the intrigue and diversity of the talks. We’d bring forward the true change-makers in our social landscape. Women and men who have for long sacrificed their own personal endeavours of financial and social stability in a bid to help society without the prejudiced distinction or cast or economic status (two factors that are still prevalent in our country as hurdles to development) Perhaps, through the success of this talk we’d show people that the pursuit for the betterment of our society isn’t an unattainable notion, but rather a meaningful pursuit. To say that this would be enlightening to those that attend would be an understatement. TED talks have always been setting benchmarks in curating events that have a fundamental tone of simplicity and a zeal and fervor to spread good ideas across the community. Our theme would promote the diversity of thought across platforms and through the exceptional individuals who will embody them. Keeping all the talks distinctly unique in their own respective subject and tone leaving and intellectually appetizing aftertaste in the minds of all those involved.
